On Friday night we drove into Cyprus Lake Campground and camped there. The RCMP came
by our site a few times to remind us that we were not to collect deadfall for the fire
and that we should all have car passes on our cars. Campfires are allowed at this site,
but only if you bring in your own wood.
Saturday morning the group packed up and hiked in. Hiking directly to Stormhaven takes
about an hour, and the trail is a bit difficult to follow because there are several
segments on the beach. Most people explored the Grotto and other areas before hiking
into Stormhaven. To get to Stormhaven take the Horsehead Lake Trail from Cyprus Lake
Campground to the Bruce Trail and go east on the Bruce Trail to Stormhaven.
At Stormhaven there are around 10 tent platforms, and with the number of people (33!)
we had it was a tight squeeze to get everyone in a space. Two tents will fit on a
platform, depending on the size and shape of the tents.
Campfires are not allowed backcountry camping at Stormhaven, so it was early to bed for
most. Sunday morning everyone got up, packed up, and left at their own pace.
