Ice Climbing: January 25th, 2003

The day before our climbing we drove up to Huntsville to have a restful sleep before our day of climbing. 9:00am saturday we met with our climbing instructors to get geared up. With ice picks in hand and krampons on our feet we were ready to hit the ice. You can feel very powerful with those weapons! Vector on Rope had a great piece of ice set out for our group. After some instruction on proper ice climbing techniques, we were ready to tie in! Five different routes were set out for us to climb. Although it was a bit chilly (-15C) the sun was shining and the adrenaline was pumping to keep us warm.

Vector provided some hot soup for lunch.. then we continued to climb until 4:00pm. Although we were tired and cold by the end, everyone left with smiling faces. What a rush!

WOC had 4 separate groups go ice climbing this season.. Totalling 40 people!
